Role:
Compressor Technician
As a Compressor Technician you will commission and de‑commission conventional and high‑pressure compressors, coordinate pressure tests, bring new units online, inspect new builds and expansions during construction, conduct final inspections and Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and learn daily gas compressor and facility operations. Responsibilities include maintaining good housekeeping, handling on‑call duties, driving a company vehicle to various locations, troubleshooting, repairs, replacements, and reporting of facility operations per JBPE requirements.
You will interact daily with foremen, compressor operators, mechanics, lease operators, and contractors. Additional duties and special projects will be assigned by your supervisor.
- Commission and decommission conventional and high‑pressure compressors
- Coordinate pressure tests and bring new compressor units online
- Inspect new builds and expansions during construction
- Conduct final inspections and PSSRs
- Learn daily gas compressor and compressor facility operations
- Maintain housekeeping standards
- Handle on‑call duties and drive company vehicle to locations
- Identify, diagnose, repair, and replace equipment using appropriate tools
- Perform basic troubleshooting
- Maintain current reporting of facility operations and fulfill all JBPE requirements
- Engage in daily interaction with foremen, compressor operators, mechanics, and lease operators
- Occasionally work alongside contractors
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor
- Demonstrate technological efficiency
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification required
- Mechanical or oilfield related experience required – 2.5 years preferred
- Prior compressor gas lift operations preferred
- Knowledge of ancillary compressor equipment including fuel gas skids, engines for gas driven machines, and medium voltage transformers/VFDs/motors for electric machines preferred
- Knowledge of common automation/control equipment related to gas compression preferred
- Prior mechanical and/or oil field experience preferred
- Current valid vehicle operator’s license with an insurable driving record required
Local to Midland, TX
Schedule8/6 schedule starting Thursday, with overtime as needed.
Pay & Benefits$50-$100 per hour. Company truck and tools provided.
