Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain air conditioning equipment.
- Make plumbing repairs and installations, including broken lines, faucets, and clean sewer lines.
- Perform electrical repairs and installations, including light ballast and bulbs.
- Paint doors, walls, and trim. Replace tile and cove base, ceramic and composition.
- Move furniture and boxes, hang pictures, and repair furniture.
- Perform carpentry repairs, including replacing doors, jambs, and window glass.
- Make minor roof repairs and seal around buildings.
- Perform related duties as required.
Ability to sit, stand, and transport between buildings; drive a vehicle to worksites; work in seasonal temperatures; bend, kneel, twist, and climb to repair and maintain buildings and equipment; work with potential mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
Communicates with other employees in the work group, building occupants, and equipment operators to obtain information and make repairs. Also communicates with other individuals as required to complete job assignments.
Ability to safely use tools and equipment such as sewer machines, amp/volt meters, trucks, and hand tools. Skill in reading manuals, blueprints, and specifications used by the city. Must be able to read blueprints and translate them into actual work. Ability to read, measure, and calculate types and sizes of materials needed. Familiarity with local city and building codes. Substantial understanding of HVAC systems and related processes.
QualificationsHigh school diploma and three to five years of experience in a related field required. Valid Texas driver's license required.
