Scope

The Instrument & Electrical Technician III installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and instrumentation equipment supporting oil & gas production operations. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical and control systems while ensuring compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) procedures. The technician also provides technical support to Operations, Engineering, and Projects while serving as a technical resource for the maintenance organization.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems utilized by production equipment.
  • Evaluate electrical systems and instrumentation to determine repair requirements.
  • Document maintenance activities and verify corrective actions.
  • Plan, update, and oversee work activities in accordance with company procedures, regulations, specifications, and standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance.
  • Support collaboration between Operations, Engineering, and Projects teams.
  • Review and provide input on electrical control specifications and work practices.
  • Maintain accountability for electrical and control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual.
  • Apply and follow Permit to Work System (PTWS) requirements.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance activities accurately and on time.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge of equipment, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Attend and lead technical meetings when required.
  • Maintain open communication regarding electrical and control system issues.
  • Support maintenance planning and work prioritization efforts.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Instrument & Electrical Technicians.
  • Generate and support Management of Change (MOC) requests involving electrical and control systems.
  • Inspect new installations and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Recommend upgrades and system improvements when appropriate.
  • Serve as acting Instrument & Electrical Lead when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Texas Journeyman Electrician License (Required – must be included with submittal)
  • Associate degree preferred and/or related technical school training.
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation within oil & gas processing facilities or offshore production facilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Safety‑oriented mindset.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate possesses strong upstream oil & gas Instrument & Electrical maintenance experience, holds a current Texas Journeyman Electrician License, has extensive troubleshooting experience with electrical and control systems, understands OIMS and PTWS processes, and can work independently while supporting maintenance teams and providing technical leadership when needed.
