Lube Technician

Compensation: $15.00 hourly

Position Summary

The Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM) services on pressure pumping and pump down equipment to ensure maximum reliability and uptime. This position focuses on fluid changes, lubrication, inspections, filter replacements, and identifying potential mechanical issues before they become failures. The Lube Technician will work in both shop and field environments and may be required to travel to remote job sites using company vehicles.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on frac pumps, pump down equipment, and support equipment.
  • Change engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, gear oil, hydraulic oil, and other lubricants according to maintenance schedules.
  • Replace oil, fuel, air, hydraulic, and coolant filters.
  • Inspect equipment for fluid leaks, loose or damaged components, abnormal wear, and other maintenance concerns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and Cummins engines;
    Allison, Caterpillar, and Twin Disc transmissions; frac pump power ends; fluid ends; hydraulic systems.
  • Grease and lubricate all equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete PM inspection forms and accurately document maintenance performed.
  • Report equipment deficiencies requiring repair to maintenance supervisors.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in both shop and field locations.
  • Ensure proper disposal of used oil, filters, and other hazardous materials in accordance with company and environmental regulations.
  • Assist mechanics with repairs as workload requires.
  • Maintain company service trucks, tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, diesel engines, or oilfield equipment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and lubrication systems.
  • Ability to recognize signs of mechanical wear or failure.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to accurately complete maintenance documentation.
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles safely when traveling to field locations.
  • Ability to work in both indoor shop and outdoor field environments.
  • Willingness to travel to remote oilfield locations as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating schedules when business needs require.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme weather conditions common to West Texas.
Preferred Experience
  • Oilfield pressure pumping or pump down maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance software or electronic maintenance records.
  • Knowledge of OEM maintenance intervals and procedures for Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Allison, and Twin Disc equipment.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to safely handle lubricants, filters, and maintenance equipment.
  • Work in noisy environments around operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing, and steel-toe boots.
