Overview
Signet Health at Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, Midland TX is actively hiring for Master's or Bachelor's level social workers for the Intake Coordinator position.
Currently, we have two openings each for Days and PRN.
The Inpatient Intake Coordinator manages the rapid assessment, crisis stabilization, and admissions process for an acute, multi‑population inpatient facility. This professional evaluates diverse populations—including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics—presenting with acute psychiatric or substance use emergencies to determine medical necessity for inpatient hospitalization. This position reports to the COO.

- Acute Clinical Assessments:
Perform rapid, thorough psychiatric and substance use diagnostic evaluations. - Multi‑Population Triage:
Determine clinical severity and medical necessity for diverse demographics, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. - Crisis & De‑escalation:
Provide immediate crisis intervention, lethal means assessment, and behavioral de‑escalation for patients in acute distress. - Inpatient Admissions:
Coordinate with emergency rooms, courts, and community providers to manage the legal and clinical intake pipeline. - Utilization Management:
Execute concurrent insurance reviews, obtain immediate pre‑authorizations, and defend medical necessity to managed care organizations. - Legal Compliance:
Manage temporary detention orders (TDOs), involuntary commitment paperwork, and state‑specific mental health law protocols. - Interdisciplinary Hand‑off:
Formulate initial treatment recommendations and deliver comprehensive clinical reports to the inpatient attending physicians and nursing staff. - Ensures appropriate information/referral for follow‑up care in cases not requiring admission to hospital services.

Qualifications:
- Education:
Master’s or Bachelor’s of Social Work from an accredited institution. - Licensure:
Active state licensure required; LPC, LPC‑A, LBSW, or LMSW. - Experience:
Experience in acute psychiatric triage, emergency room social work, or inpatient admissions.
- Expertise in DSM‑5‑TR diagnostics across the lifespan (pediatrics to geriatrics).
- Working understanding of involuntary psychiatric admission laws and patient rights.
- High proficiency in ASAM criteria for substance‑related admissions.
- Training in non‑violent crisis intervention helpful, but training can be provided after employment.
- Current CPR certification helpful, but training can be provided.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 shifting environment (including nights/weekends).
