Job Description

Planning and assigning all field trip, UIL, and Fine Art trip requests; resolving district transportation issues concerning extracurricular trips; maintaining and operating a variety of computer software programs in support of the district’s student transportation system; communicating effectively with dispatch, routing personnel, and sponsors.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of field trips, utilizing Route finder, Trip finder, and other informational resources to make assignments.
  • Work with campus and departmental staff to maintain the performance management procedures regarding field trip efficiency and operations.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve all field trip issues and incidents, responding to complaints and communicating safety concerns to supervisors as needed.
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, training, and enforcement of field trip procedures.
  • Assist in preparing in‑service and staff training.
  • Prepare and submit field trip billing reports.
  • Prepare and provide field trip paperwork and vehicle keys for drivers.
  • Substitute for drivers and office staff as needed.
  • Provide assistance to campuses/departments as requested.
  • Work collaboratively to improve programs.
  • Participate in professional development that increases effectiveness and improves District performance.
  • Interact positively with employees and the community to provide needed information and to promote the District in a favorable manner.
  • Participate in team‑building activities and the decision‑making process as appropriate.
  • Communicate and collaborate with campus/department staff to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Class 'B' Commercial Driver’s License with passenger 'P' and School Bus 'S' endorsement.
  • Texas School Bus Certification. Clerk and record‑keeping background.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD’s vehicle safety and use program.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Knowledge of routing software preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance, DOT, Background Clearance.
  • Positive attitude and support for the Department.
  • T.E.A. certified bus driver.
  • TAPT Certification preferred.
Special Knowledge Skills
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Knowledge of routing software preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance, DOT, Background Clearance.
  • Positive attitude and support for the Department.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
Minimum Experience
  • Two years’ experience operating a school bus and/or other white fleets.
  • Two years’ experience in participating in route planning.
  • Experience in dispatching.
  • Experience in computerized school bus routing and problem‑solving is preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • Assist Managers and Dispatch if needed.
