CDL Bus Driver

Our CDL bus drivers are responsible for safely transporting students and employees to and from events using a commercial, mid-size, or small bus. While prioritizing safety, our drivers also promote a God-honoring and welcoming atmosphere. When necessary, overnight accommodation and meals are covered.

Reports directly to the Director of Transportation.

High‑School Diploma or GED.

Prior experience preferred.

Model an active relationship with Jesus Christ. Ability to troubleshoot and handle emergencies. Manage trip travel to ensure safety and punctuality. Reap maps or use GPS. Strong interpersonal skills.

Reliable transportation.

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand‑held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, climb or balance, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Background checks are conducted and all MCS drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol screenings.

Classification – Exempt.

Essential functions of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions. Other duties may be assigned.

• Safely transport students and employees.
• Operate a large passenger bus and people mover.
• Obey traffic laws and maintain a clean, properly functioning bus.
• Perform pre‑trip inspections and accurately log mileage.
• Enforce passenger conduct rules.
• Travel throughout the State of Texas.
• Report accidents in a timely manner and in accordance with school policy.

FMCSA Requirements:
Midland Christian School is required to report the following, as FMCSA is implementing tougher "return to duty" policies.

• Any refusal to take a drug or alcohol test.
• Any positive drug test; any alcohol test of 0.04% or higher.
• Knowledge that an employee has used a controlled substance.
• Knowledge that an employee has used alcohol while on duty or four hours prior to reporting for duty.
• RTD tests with negative results; and/or successful completion of RTD testing.
