Position Function/
Purpose:
Coordinate routing of pupil transportation for regular programs district wide to ensure safe, efficient, timely, and economical transportation services.
- Layout and schedule all district bus routes in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines.
- Ensure changes or additional bus runs are consistent with district policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Assign bus drivers, routes, vehicles, and driver substitutes for morning and afternoon shifts as directed by the transportation director.
- Post route schedules and state‑required route descriptions; ensure each bus carries an accurate description of its morning and afternoon routes.
- Process requests and arrange for extracurricular transportation.
- Prepare and update district maps showing areas served by each bus; distribute maps to schools and to the public as directed.
- Dispatch drivers and vehicles.
- Notify drivers, parents, and school personnel of any changes in a student’s bus service such as address changes, pick‑up/drop‑off location changes, time changes, or bus changes; assist campuses in placing new students on buses and advising drivers of new or dismissed students.
- Respond to complaints about transportation services and address issues when appropriate; redirect calls to the transportation director as needed.
- Ensure drivers are aware of students on their buses who have a Quick Reference Emergency Plan (QREP).
- Process driving and safety records of all new applicants.
- Serve as substitute bus driver/monitor as needed.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- College and high school diploma.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Region 18 Certification.
- Minimum of 2 Years experience in school bus transportation.
- Minimum of 2 years of clerical experience.
- Heavy carrying (15‑44 pounds)
