Job Type: Part-Time, Contract
Setting: School-Based, Onsite
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: 1.5 days per week – very flexible schedule
Student Population: PK–12
Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Tact Staff Education is hiring a part-time Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to support students with disabilities in a school-based setting in Midlothian, Texas. This flexible opportunity is ideal for an APE teacher or qualified related-service professional looking for a small weekly commitment of approximately 1.5 days per week while making a meaningful impact on students' motor development, physical fitness, independence, and confidence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide adaptive physical education services to students with disabilities in accordance with their IEPs
  • Assess students' motor development, physical abilities, and functional mobility needs
  • Develop and implement individualized physical education activities that promote participation and independence
  • Adapt physical education activities to meet individual student needs and abilities
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other members of the educational team
  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and student progress records
  • Create safe, engaging, and inclusive physical education experiences for students with a wide range of abilities
Qualifications

Candidates should meet one of the following qualifications, as applicable to Texas requirements and district needs:

  • Physical Education Teacher with appropriate Texas certification
  • Special Education instructional or related-service personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide adaptive physical education
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) working under appropriate supervision

Additional qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred
  • School-based experience preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the school team
  • Must meet all applicable Texas state and district requirements for the role
