Job SummaryThe MRI Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs MRI procedures on patients. These are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Performs high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging by following established standards and procedures.
- Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs, ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test to be performed. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
- Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
- Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department and assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
- Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
- Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation, including requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
- Able to perform high quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
- Provides services promptly, accurately, and cost‑efficiently, following System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
- Stays calm and helpful during stress and takes reasonable steps to resolve issues.
- Effectively administers first aid and uses emergency cart.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remains professional, reviews patient satisfaction scores, and develops action plans when needed.
- Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for the appropriate care of newborns, pediatrics, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.
- Serves as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and new services and initiatives.
- Is able to take call, if required.

- Education:
H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent - Experience:
Less than 1 Year of Experience - Certification/License/Registration:
- American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT)
- ARRT‑MR Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- ARRT‑R Radiography
- ARMRIT, ARRT(MR), ARRT(R) or equivalent
