Job Summary
- Operate and learn the operations of Downline Packaging equipment including Cap Applicator, Cardboard Case Packer, Accumulators, and learn basic functionality of the coders.
- Ensure efficient operation of distribution equipment and support maintenance activities consistently.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
- Assume responsibility for safety, quality and effective communication relevant to shift and plant performance.
- Fill in for vacations and cover if other employees are absent.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Monitor and fix faults and clear material jams in equipment.
- Conduct required quality checks to assure standards are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized area.
- Maintain communications within the production team ensuring smooth shift transitions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties involving area equipment.
- Assist maintenance technicians on routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Support mechanics in appropriate maintenance activities.
- Monitor WIP material and supplies to ensure efficient production.
- Basic understanding of Oracle systems accurately scanning material being consumed.
- Relieve other production team members for breaks and absences as required.
- Accurately prepare and maintain all area codes and paperwork.
- Set up oncoming shifts for success by leaving area clean, organized, and stocked.
- Wear PPE when required.
- All other duties, as assigned.
- Adheres to all plant safety rules.
- Reports all near misses and accidents to the production supervisor or HR representative.
- Participates in monthly safety inspections and reports any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Management.
- Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
- Follows SOPs and SSOPs when making processing adjustments to ensure high‑quality liquid‑based products.
- Responsible for compliance with GMPs, HACCP and SQF programs.
- Identifies all critical control points and understands their functions related to the process.
- When maintenance is occurring in your work area, assist the Maintenance Technicians in any capacity needed to expedite the repair process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.
- Cooperate with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors.
- Ensure effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators each scheduled shift.
- Maintain effective communication with members of the support group.
- When utilizing handheld radios, employees are expected to be professional and respectful when communicating.
- Promotes and contributes to the development of a strong team.
- Works well among co‑workers as a team.
- Assist in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team.
- Continuously improve knowledge of the Aseptic Filling process.
- Become familiar with Sun Opta 360.
- Complete and adhere to the Annual Alchemy Schedule.
- None.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of math and computers.
- Ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment.
- Ability to set priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.
- Must have accurate and detailed record keeping and legible handwriting.
- Understands procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.
- Must adhere to all GMPs and Safety Procedures established by Management.
- Must be able to stand for 12 hours for long periods and lift a minimum up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to move rolling tubs occasionally in excess of 100 lb and push/pull pallet jacks with heavy loads.
- Work 12 hours as required and any overtime scheduled when additional coverage is needed, maintaining a good attendance record.
- Must have good personal hygiene.
- Perform Quality Assurance checks on cartons and cases verifying package integrity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills conducive to a team environment.
- Location:
Sun Opta Plant in Midlothian, TX. - Shift: Night shift (C‑Shift) on a 2‑2‑3 pattern, 6 pm to 6:30 am.
- Shift Differential offered for working night shift.
- Work Environment:
Plant/manufacturing environment.
