Overview

Join Baylor Scott & White Health as a Nurse Practitioner focused on urgent care. Provide direct patient care with prescriptive authority in an urgent care setting, working under the supervision of a physician within a collaborative team. This position supports an award-winning health system known for patient-centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical therapies or procedures in accordance with approved policies, with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other team members; evaluate patient response and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of conditions, medications, nutrition, and health promotion; address drug regimens and possible interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice.
  • Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty and training.
  • Perform invasive procedures as delegated by the supervising physician, within the scope of practice and level of expertise.
  • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on department coverage needs.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Experience:

    Less than 1 year of experience (entry-level considerations).
  • Certification/Registration:
    Nurse Practitioner (NP);
    Registered Nurse (RN);
    Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Licensure:
    Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas; RN licensure with compact privilege as applicable per state requirements.
