Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with GI diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including endoscopy and colonoscopy
- Prepare procedure rooms, calibrate equipment, and ensure proper infection control and sterilization of instruments
- Position and monitor patients during procedures, observing vital signs and comfort levels
- Prepare, label, and handle specimens according to protocols and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate patient and procedure documentation in electronic health records
- Ensure readiness of supplies, troubleshoot basic equipment issues, and report malfunctions
- Support patient education by explaining procedures and post-procedure instructions
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff to coordinate safe, efficient patient flow
- Follow safety, compliance, and quality standards, including OSHA and infection prevention guidelines
- Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
