If you have hands‑on experience with GC and/or HPLC and enjoy practical laboratory work, this is a great opportunity to build your expertise across a range of techniques and sample types, with support from an experienced team.

You’ll be offered a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package, and a role that supports ongoing technical development in a purpose‑led organisation.

The role

  • Run GC, GC/MS, HPLC/UV/ECD, IC and other instrumentation in line with SOPs
  • Record, calculate and report results accurately, completing required checks in line with laboratory procedures
  • Support internal quality checks by reviewing your own data, investigating anomalies and raising issues promptly
  • Support day‑to‑day lab operations (housekeeping, cleaning, stock checks and routine equipment care)
  • Assist with troubleshooting and escalating instrument or method issues as required
  • Work in line with the company quality system, including ISO 17025 (UKAS accredited) requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting practical updates to processes and documentation
What you’ll bring
  • A relevant scientific degree or equivalent hands‑on experience in a similar field
  • Hands‑on experience running chromatography instrumentation (GC and/or HPLC) in a commercial or regulated laboratory environment
  • Good organisation and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload
  • Accuracy and efficiency in a fast‑paced environment
  • Comfortable using ICT systems including Microsoft Office and databases
  • Punctual, reliable, and committed to high standards
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a small team
  • A proactive, learning‑focused mindset; experience supporting others or taking on informal mentoring is a plus, but not essential
Benefits
  • Flexible working
  • 35 days annual leave (including public holidays)
  • Non‑for‑profit organisation
  • Group personal pension
  • Income protection
  • Death in service
  • Access to a flexible benefits and rewards platform
  • Employee Assistance Programme (wellbeing hub, 24‑hour helpline, and counselling)
  • On‑site parking
  • Work for an organisation focused on improving people’s lives and the environment
