Position OverviewThe Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new business opportunities, building strategic client relationships, and driving profitable revenue growth for the company. This role owns the full sales cycle—from prospecting and relationship development to proposal presentation, contract negotiation, and successful handoff to operations.
The Business Development Manager serves as the face of the company within the marketplace, developing relationships with property managers, facility managers, asset managers, HOAs, municipalities, general contractors, and other key decision makers. Success in this role requires a highly motivated sales professional who excels at networking, prospecting, consultative selling, and building long‑term client partnerships.

- Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and strategic outreach.
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Research target accounts and identify key decision-makers and influencers.
- Conduct market analysis to identify emerging opportunities and competitive threats.
- Maintain an active presence within industry associations, networking groups, and community organizations.
- Create and execute territory-specific business development plans.

- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution.
- Conduct site visits and needs assessments to develop tailored maintenance solutions.
- Collaborate with operations teams to develop accurate scopes of work and pricing.
- Prepare and present professional proposals to prospective clients.
- Lead contract negotiations while protecting company profitability.
- Follow up consistently throughout the sales process to advance opportunities.
- Achieve or exceed annual sales goals and performance targets.
- Identify opportunities for:
- Landscape Maintenance Services
- Irrigation Services
- Enhancement Programs
- Seasonal Color Programs
- Tree Care Services
- Additional Property Services
- Pursue multi-property and portfolio opportunities when available.
- Develop strategies to increase market share within assigned territories.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within Aspire CRM.
- Track all prospect activity, opportunities, meetings, proposals, and forecasts.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline sufficient to achieve revenue targets.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports to leadership.
- Monitor proposal conversion rates and sales performance metrics.
- Work closely with branch managers and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Participate in strategy meetings regarding target accounts and growth opportunities.
- Communicate client expectations and commitments to operational teams.
- Support retention and client satisfaction initiatives through strong internal collaboration.
- Monitor local market conditions and competitive activity.
- Provide feedback to leadership regarding pricing trends, service opportunities, and competitive threats.
- Identify emerging markets and new service opportunities.
- 3+ years of business development, outside sales, or account acquisition experience.
- Proven success generating new business through prospecting and relationship development.
- Experience selling commercial services, preferably recurring contract services.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Commercial landscape maintenance sales experience.
- Experience selling to property managers, facility managers, or commercial real estate professionals.
- Knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance, irrigation, enhancements, and related services.
- Existing relationships within the local commercial real estate market.
- Experience with Aspire or similar CRM platforms.
