The Electrical Supervisor schedules, coordinates and assigns duties for plant electrical maintenance and repair work. This position monitors progress and performance of electrical maintenance workers. The position provides supervision to electrical maintenance employees and contractors.
What you'll be contributing:- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Generates, receives and reviews work orders for electrical maintenance.
- Schedules, assigns and communicates electrical maintenance and repair jobs while minimizing equipment downtime.
- Collaborates with other staff regarding preventive maintenance and troubleshooting problems with major electrical equipment.
- Supervises and monitors work performance of electrical maintenance workers, ensures that required material and equipment are available, work is performed properly and complies with safety standards.
- Ensures materials and equipment are order and remain in stock for projects.
- Discusses anticipated projects with contractors, and collaborates with department supervisors about upcoming new equipment installations and major repairs.
- Assists with organizing and providing instructions for the installation of new equipment or the modification of existing equipment.
- Provides associated drawings and writes programmable logic controller (PLC) programs.
- Reviews/prepares paperwork concerning timekeeping for the electrical maintenance workers, closing paperwork for work orders and prepares reports.
- Assists in training electricians performing work pertaining to electrical maintenance.
- Plans electrical trade time and parts.
- Ensures that activities regarding the maintenance and calibration of process instrumentation are properly conducted.
- Coordinates, writes and reviews standard operating procedure (SOP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) related to department tasks
- Attends/participates in annual good combustion practice training
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum 2 Year / Associate Degree in electrical or related subject matter. In lieu of degree/diploma equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in related work. Education classes in related area may substitute for some of the required years of experience.
- Proficient in problem-solving
- Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
- Ability to lead, direct and manage organizations, programs and people
- Knowledge of electrical circuits, Ohm's Law, programmable logic controllers, plant safety and lockout procedures
- Knowledge of the theory and practical application of electrical machinery (motors, switch gear, starters, AC & DC variable speed drives, overhead/underground electrical distribution systems, transformers and their associated controls)
- Thorough knowledge of national electrical code and ability to apply the requirements.
- Ability to use computers, understand electrical drawings, and furnish "mark-up"/ "as built" drawings and specifications upon completion of projects.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
- Ability to work from general policies and objectives with specified standards to use as guidelines.
