Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support day-to-day receivables operations for a Contract position based in Midlothian, Virginia. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with billing activity, cash posting, and commercial collections while maintaining accurate financial records.

The right candidate will bring strong attention to detail, solid Excel skills, and hands-on experience using Sage in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining organized receivables records.

- Apply incoming payments, reconcile cash activity, and research discrepancies to keep account balances current.

- Manage commercial collections efforts by following up on outstanding balances and resolving payment issues professionally.

- Review customer accounts regularly to identify past-due items and support timely resolution of open receivables.

- Maintain billing-related documentation and update account information within Sage and other tracking tools.

- Prepare receivables reports and spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel to support visibility into aging, cash activity, and account status.

- Partner with internal teams to investigate billing questions, payment variances, and account adjustments as needed. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts receivable with direct involvement in billing, payment application, and account reconciliation.

- Working knowledge of commercial collections practices and the ability to communicate effectively regarding overdue balances.

- Hands-on experience using Sage software in an accounting or finance setting.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, review, and analyze financial data.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling cash activity and customer account records.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a contract assignment.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with customers and internal stakeholders.
