Land Use Permitter
We are seeking a detail-oriented Land Use Permitter to join our team. The role involves managing and processing various land use permits, including utility, entrance, and special events permits. The successful candidate will work closely with VDOT permit inspectors and address citizen concerns, ensuring all permitting processes are handled efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain access to the permitting program.
- Review online submissions for permits related to utility, entrance, special events, and other land use activities.
- Process and issue permits, including renewals and reissuances.
- Understand work zones to ensure permits are issued correctly.
- Estimate fees and sureties for permitting processes.
- Coordinate inspection requests with VDOT permit inspectors.
- Respond to citizen concerns and work requests promptly.
- Follow up with permit holders to ensure permit completion.
Essential
Skills:
- Experience in land planning, permitting, and zoning.
- Knowledge of utility construction and VDOT processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with zoning permits and engineering.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience with VDOT permitting is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
The position requires working Monday through Friday in an office environment in Richmond, VA. Employees are entitled to 5 days of paid time off and 6 paid holidays, alongside competitive compensation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midlothian, VA.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
