Crane Operator, w/ Concrete Experience

Education RequirementHS Diploma or GED preferred with basic reading and writing skills.
Experience RequirementMinimum 3 years operating cranes and heavy equipment including hydraulic/fractionary cranes and/or crawler cranes (18‑ton to 100‑ton capacity); experience in driving piles helpful, concrete pouring, clamming, hookwork.
Special SkillsPile driving experience, concrete bucket, multiple leads.
Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a Crane Operator to join our Heavy Civil Team in the Mid‑Atlantic, primarily in Maryland and Virginia. The ideal candidate is a motivated and dependable individual, able to communicate and work well with others, holding a valid driver’s license, current NCCCO certification, and reliable transportation. Travel is a requirement of this position as work is performed in the Mid‑Atlantic Region.
This is a safety‑sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. The position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
- NCCCO certification; TLL and LBC required.
- Experience with concrete pouring and buckets; experience with driving piles extremely beneficial.
- 3 years operating heavy equipment including hydraulic boom (rough terrain) and friction truck and/or lattice boom crawler; concrete pouring, clamming.
- Valid driver’s license, current NCCCO certification, reliable transportation.
- Manipulate hand and/or foot controls, pedals, levers, and buttons to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal and/or hand signal instructions.
- Observe load hookup and determine the safety of the load.
- Perform preventative maintenance: clean, lubricate and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism.
- Inspect crane daily for defective parts and record date and malfunction in a log.
- Read and interpret load charts to determine the safe operating capacity.
- Direct the set up and dismantling of the crane.
- Direct the placement of cribbing for outrigger to prevent capsizing.
- Must also be able to drive pile.
- Experience with piles helpful.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
- Must be able to sit for up to 3‑4 hours at a time.
- Must be able to climb into the cab of equipment and climb down from the equipment cab without assistance.
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl to perform essential tasks, including maintenance and inspection of equipment.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces.
- Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
