Sales Engineer

Overview

The Junior Sales Engineer will expand our reach, cultivate strategic partnerships, and drive revenue growth in the construction, consulting, and IPP fields in the South African, Zambian and Tanzanian market. This role requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of the industry, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of sales growth success. The focus is on selling technical products and services, translating and explaining highly complex technical information to customers, and demonstrating how a product or piece of equipment can solve specific problems.

Provide technical insight about deployment and implementation, and put the value proposition into practice.

• Identify and qualify potential leads through a combination of research, networking, and outreach.
• Develop targeted sales pitches and presentations to effectively communicate the company’s value proposition.
• Promote and sell equipment, products, and solutions to prospective and current clients, using technical knowledge and commercial training and experience.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs, and anticipating future requirements.
• Identify new business, negotiate contracts, and review sales performance.
• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, assign and monitor allocated enquiries, quotations, orders, projects, and deliveries.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments and breakthroughs and pass this vital knowledge on.
• Represent the technical aspects of products and solutions, proposing how these aspects can benefit the customer.
• Maintain a strong technical understanding of the complexities of products and solutions, with regular dealings with maintenance and production engineers, as well as plant managers.
• Collaborate with design, production, engineering, or research and development departments of product partners to determine how products and services could be made or modified to suit customer needs.
• Expand sales territories and conceptualise strategies to market products, generate sales conversions, and deliver a superior customer experience.
• Keep track of targeted as well as actual sales to determine the extent of marketing support required.
• Source and store information about competitor products for market research.
• Identify new sales and marketing channels and technologies and find the best solutions to promote the business.

• Open to graduates of technical disciplines: mechanical, electrical, instrumentation
• 4+ years of sales-related experience within a technical or engineering environment
• Experience selling electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment to mines, municipalities and construction companies
• Fluent spoken and written English;
  French is an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently and well in a team, and perform under pressure
• Excellent computer skills
