Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction activities in accordance with established quality procedures and evaluate compliance with project plans, specifications, shop drawings and other project-related documents.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing and/or inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Review plans, specifications, general notes and shop/working drawings for assigned activities prior to performing duties.
  • Train to perform field tests on materials and completed work using standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment.
  • Solve mathematical problems requiring simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and raising numbers to powers. Round to the correct number of significant figures, calculate percentages, read graphs, and use simple geometric definitions and formulas.
  • Safely utilize, store and maintain all documents and tools.
  • Communicate priorities and deadlines to the direct report and provide progress updates on tasks and assignments.
  • Safely operate and maintain the individually assigned company vehicle and field equipment in accordance with company policy.
  • Carry out assigned duties in accordance with established procedures and meet directed priorities and deadlines.
  • Maintain certifications at the time of employment or obtain them during employment.
  • Collect, prepare and transmit samples to laboratories.
  • Frequently lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment, hazardous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; follow proper safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
  • Positions may require protracted or irregular hours and may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices and project locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites; able to maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization.
  • Completion of Troxler Manufacturing or equivalent radiation safety course to use nuclear gauges, completion of State-specific Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) for applicable testing/sampling procedures (or ability to complete within 6 months of employment), and ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certifications and trainings are preferred.
  • MUST be self-motivated with good attendance and be able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of the State-specific Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices approved by the Federal Highway Administrator as the National Standard.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to use hand tools such as sledgehammers, shovels, and picks.

  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and talk. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Vision abilities include close, far, color, peripheral, focus and depth perception. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
