Job Description

Position:
Commercial Truck Driver – Operates a motor vehicle with GVW greater than 26,000 lbs and trailers up to 53 ft. Responsible for safe and courteous driving, delivery, loading, and unloading (including forklift operation) of items to facilities in the Intermountain distribution network. Operates a semi‑tractor and trailer in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including paperwork, safety checks, and reporting of maintenance problems.

Provides an excellent distribution system between facilities and organizations within Intermountain Health.

Schedule

Full time – 8:00 pm to 4:00 am (40 hours per week).

Essential Functions
  • Safety Awareness:
    Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle with a GVW greater than 26,000 lbs in a variety of conditions and environments, including safe lifting and moving techniques for large or heavy items. Stay aware of conditions that affect the safety of self and others, and protect personnel and self against work‑related accidents, injuries, or other hazards.

    Make customer’s needs a primary focus, show interest in and understanding of internal and external customers, gain trust and respect, meet or exceed expectations, and gather and listen to customer feedback.

Qualifications
  • Valid class A driver’s license with no restrictions and pass a driver’s road test as required by DOT.
  • A DOT Medical Card.
  • 21 years of age or older as required by DOT.
  • Basic computer software and application skills.
  • Understand and follow department procedures and practices.
  • Comply with Intermountain Healthcare’s Motor Vehicle Driver Policy.
  • Experience requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to load and unload carts and pallets.
  • Operate and maneuver forklifts in tight spaces while loading and unloading pallets from docks and trailers.
  • Safe operation of trucks and equipment in all weather and light conditions – good vision, physical agility and motor skills.
  • OSHA Forklift certification; must obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to lift, sit, see, stand, squat, kneel, push, pull, climb, and walk.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years professional driving experience.
  • Doubles and Triples endorsement.
  • Hazmat endorsement.
Physical Requirements
  • Must see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
  • Frequent customer interactions requiring communication and understanding of spoken information, alarm, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; frequent computer, phone, and cable setup.
  • Expected to lift, push, pull, and transport equipment; work on hands and knees, bend to set‑up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typical items vary in weight, including heavy items.
  • For driving roles: expected to drive a vehicle, requiring sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Supply Chain Center – Midvale, Utah.

Salary

$25.64 – $39.00 per hour, actual rate depends on experience.
