POSITION SUMMARYOverland Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to support heavy civil and roadway construction operations throughout Southern Oklahoma and North Texas. This position is responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, crushing equipment, and motor graders equipped with GPS technology. The ideal candidate is production-driven, dependable, and experienced in road building, site development, and heavy highway construction.
JOBDUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
- Safely operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and operating procedures.
- Operate equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, crushing equipment, and motor graders.
- Utilize GPS machine control systems to maintain grade and project specifications.
- Perform grading, site work, removals, and roadway construction tasks.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip equipment inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of assigned equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair issues promptly.
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to achieve production goals.
- Follow project plans, specifications, and safety standards at all times.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and weekly toolbox talks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a positive driving history.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and construction site safety procedures.
- Understanding of road building, site development, grading, and removals.
- Familiarity with GPS machine control systems and grade control technology.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Understanding of paving and heavy highway construction operations.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of heavy equipment operating experience required.
- Motor grader experience preferred.
- Construction background required; paving or heavy/highway construction experience preferred.
- Crusher and aggregate processing equipment experience preferred.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Willingness to travel and work out of town when required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and kneel for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to safely climb into and out of heavy equipment multiple times per day.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
- Good hand‑eye coordination and depth perception required.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high‑visibility vests, and work boots.
- Travel throughout Southern Oklahoma and North Texas is required.
