Position: Adjunct Instructor, Art and/or Photography (2026-2027) - PTT

Adjunct Instructor, Art and/or Photography ) - PTT

Under the direction of the Associate Dean and Program Chair(s), the Adjunct Instructor will provide instruction in a variety of Art and/or Photography courses in classroom, online, hybrid, or off‑campus settings.

Essential Functions
  • Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each assigned course.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to individual student needs, including lectures, small groups, demonstrations, and computer‑assisted instruction.
  • Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress.
  • Assist in gathering and interpreting data for department assessment.
  • Promote a culture of belonging where all students and staff feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.
  • Operate and utilize appropriate technologies (e.g., document camera, projector, interactive smart board).
  • Perform other college functions and duties as assigned.
  • Work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Current knowledge of and ability to teach art and/or photography theory and/or practice.
  • Ability to relate to colleagues, staff, students, and supervisors of diverse backgrounds positively.
  • Effective communication skills in writing, speaking, and phone.
  • Ability to develop and incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to devise and utilize appropriate evaluation methods for classroom use.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate hours in fine arts or an art discipline or photography, or Bachelor’s Degree in an art discipline or photography plus a minimum of 6 graduate credits in the subject area and an approved plan to complete a Master’s degree within two years.
  • Teaching experience equivalent to at least 18 semester hours or 6 courses/sections at the secondary or post‑secondary level directly relevant to instructional responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject area in hand.
  • Teaching experience at the two‑year college level.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students at various levels of language ability/skill/learning style in both academic and career/technical degree programs.
  • Education or training in adult education theory and methodologies.
