Position Summary

The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will also maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university
  • Teaching certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education recognized by the State of Oklahoma
  • Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain all records and a comprehensive computer database necessary to complete annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teaches academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards.
  • Adhere to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
  • Provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
  • Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils’ progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify pupils’ needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and providing interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social‑emotional, and academic needs.
  • Enhance professional pedagogy through in‑service education provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth opportunities. Set goals for professional growth and seek guidance.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or above.
Language and Grammar Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

Physical Demands

Stands, walks, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls regularly. Occasionally sits. Frequently lifts and/or moves more than 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level varies from somewhat loud to extremely loud. May work at a different location if school is closed or in a crisis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May occasionally supervise varying number of employees in overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
