Summary: Provide administrative, instructional, and organizational assistance to the ELD teacher.
Essential Functions- Assist and support the ELD teacher in the classroom.
- Assist ELD teachers with all aspects of instructional preparation (making copies, bulletin boards, filing student records, etc.).
- Assist English Learner students individually or in small groups with English language acquisition in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing as directed by the ELD teachers.
- Assist English Learners (EL's) with ELD assignments (e.g., read stories, listen to students read, provide writing assistance, reinforce English lessons, provide spelling practice, assist with computer learning programs, etc.) as directed by the ELD teacher.
- Assist ELD teachers with screening and assessments and yearly assessments.
- Comply with all relevant site, district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Monitor students in the cafeteria and playground type setting.
- Develop cooperative and functional relationships with district staff and the public; maintain consistent and punctual attendance; ensure job responsibilities are met competently and within established deadlines.
- Assist with special projects.
- All other duties as assigned by the administrator.

Education and/or Experience- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate Degree or higher OR 48 hours of college credit OR passed the ParaPRo (paraprofessional test) OR passed the OGET (Oklahoma General Education Test) OR passed the Work Key
- Generally will have at least one year of experience in a closely related field.
- Fluency in a second language is preferred.
Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws applicable to education and special education; ability to follow all district policies and procedures; ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done; demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators; ability to work without supervision and as a team player;
ability to document records accurately; ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees; ability to listen effectively.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Knowledge of one or more world languages is a plus.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical DemandsTypical classroom environments. Noise level in the work environment could be moderately loud in intervals throughout the day. Must have own transportation to sites.
