Job Description

This position provides instruction in Automotive Service Technology. The instructor will develop and maintain a current curriculum, deliver instruction through engaging real‑world strategies, and prepare students to take and pass required industry certifications.

Qualifications
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Hold or qualify for a standard or provisional Career Technology Teaching Certificate, with a minimum of two years’ experience in the occupation.
  • Preferably three years of Automotive Service Technology experience within the past five years.
  • Current OK State Department of Education on trade & industrial education teaching certificate, or willingness to obtain credentials.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Working toward or holding Automotive Master ASE certification.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct students using modeling, visuals, hands‑on activities, work‑based learning, demonstrations, gestures, body language, and thematic instruction.
  • Develop and prepare program curriculum, objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, projects, and evaluation instruments reflecting industry standards.
  • Administer and evaluate assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests; record results in student information management software; communicate progress to parents.
  • Maintain discipline, set high expectations, and manage a classroom of secondary and adult students.
  • Prepare program completers for state competency tests and implement improvement plans for students not meeting standards.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings, student recruitment/promotional events, and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Perform related duties such as sponsoring Career Tech student organization events, assisting with job placement, and on‑the‑job training placement and supervision.
  • Assist students in developing soft skills and prepare them for employment upon completion.
  • Participate in IEP meetings when appropriate and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of special‑needs students.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
