Teacher

School administrators and the school district maintain a welcoming environment in which students can grow academically, socially, and professionally. Classroom expectations, standards for student conduct, and state curriculum standards guide best practice. Teachers are accountable for classroom success and for maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university
  • Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma
  • Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Responsibilities
  • Maintain records and computer databases for annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teach academic content to students, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards.
  • Adhere to district and school policies as set forth in district/site handbooks.
  • Create a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
  • Instruct students in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and district procedures.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff members to assess and provide interventions/resources for students’ health, social‑emotional, and academic needs.
  • Enhance professional pedagogy through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth opportunities. Set goals for growth and seek guidance.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or higher.
Language & Grammar Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
