STUDENT AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT/VETERANS SERVICES
POSITION:
Senior Veterans Services Specialist
Responsible for the administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill educational program. Advise students regarding eligibility, benefits, and requirements of the GI Bill program. Verify enrollment and submit certifications to the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Processing Office. Advise students on educational benefits available through the GI Bill. Assist students in resolving educational benefits and financial issues with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Report changes in enrollment, grades, and attendance to the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Processing Office. Assist in the evaluation of student records for the requirements needed for receipt of benefits. Apprise the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management of any institutional practices that may affect services provided to Veteran students. Assist in establishing an excellent working relationship with the State Approval Agency and Education Liaison Representative.
Maintain Veteran student GI Bill files. Provide interpretation and guidance to students, faculty, and staff regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Responsible for the supervision and training of part-time hourly and work-study employees of the Veterans Student Services department. Work under limited supervision. Receive training and guidelines from the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management.
- Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Proficiency with computers and MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong desire to work with students and Veterans in a team environment.
- Light lifting up to 10 lbs and light carrying up to 10 lbs required.
- Ability to reach above the shoulder.
- Periods spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience working in Higher Education and/or working with Veterans.
