Responsibilities- Conduct fundamental or applied research to improve or generate new products, components, materials, or applications.
- Plan, design, and conduct research projects following established scientific methods, principles, and theories to solve problems and develop new products, components, equipment, and processes.
- Develop and formulate new polymer/rubber compounds and/or modify existing materials to improve product functionality.
- Deviate research methods; set up laboratory test equipment; build models and prototypes; calculate and analyze test results; prepare detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions.
- Estimate the costs, resources, and time required for research projects and monitor performance to ensure targets are met.
- Prepare calculations, specifications, and other technical documentation for prototype designs to be manufactured and assembled.
- Develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and science.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Polymeric Materials, Chemistry, Plastics Technology, or Engineering.
- At least 3 years of Material/Product Development Engineering or a combination with Design Engineering.
- Passion for supporting cost‑effective products conducive to business success.
- Experience working in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred:
- Hands‑on experience and ability to support laboratory, pilot, and production trials.
- 3–7 years of Material/Product Development Engineering or a combination with Design Engineering.
- Works in a normal office environment with standard office equipment.
- Requires sitting, bending, kneeling, squatting, keyboard use, reading, writing, and speaking fluently.
- Regularly lifts and carries objects of 10–25 pounds as needed.
- Occasionally lifts and carries objects of 25–30 pounds as needed.
- Works productively and cooperatively in a high‑volume, fast‑paced, highly pressured environment and responds efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crises.
- No typical adverse environmental conditions; possible eye strain and lifting injuries.
- When travel is necessary, exposed to typical travel environment and surroundings.
