This position is based in Oklahoma and offers home and office work flexibility with travel to customer sites, primarily located in the Tulsa or Oklahoma City areas. Some travel to Western Oklahoma is expected with quarterly travel to other areas in the Midwest as well.

What You’ll Do

The Application Sales Engineer III serves as the primary technical resource for assigned customer accounts and packagers, ensuring FW Murphy control panel solutions meet customer requirements and expectations. This role is responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing customer projects, and implementing programming and configuration changes to support customer operations.

As a senior level individual contributor, the Application Sales Engineer III operates independently and serves as a recognized technical authority for assigned customers. This position requires strong customer relationships management skills, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to make timely technical decisions in support of customer needs while maintaining alignment with engineering and business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned customer accounts and packagers.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and long‑term business success.
  • Provide technical support for FW Murphy control panel hardware and software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, wiring, programming, and system integration issues.
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend technical solutions to meet operational needs.
  • Make approved software configuration and programming changes that do not require additional hardware or engineering redesign.
  • Coordinate and manage customer projects to ensure timely completion and successful implementation.
  • Support production and field activities by identifying and resolving technical issues that impact customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and other cross‑functional teams to resolve customer concerns and deliver effective solutions.
  • Reverse engineer existing control panel systems to diagnose and correct programming, wiring, or configuration issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to customers regarding system functionality and performance.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed to support projects, troubleshoot issues, and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Maintain detailed documentation related to customer requests, technical changes, and project activities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on customer satisfaction, product performance, and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
  • Associate degree in Engineer Technology, Electrical Technology, Automation, or related field; equivalent work experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in industrial controls, automation, electrical systems, applications engineering, technical support, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Allen‑Bradley and Rockwell Automation hardware and software platforms.
  • Experience supporting industrial control panels, PLC‑based systems, and customer‑specific automation solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills involving electrical, hardware, software, and system integration issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure and within tight customer timelines.
  • Ability to travel extensively (50‑75% out of office time at customers).
