Regional Director of Business Development – Skilled Nursing Facilities

Territory: Regional – Multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities

Compensation: $80,000–$100,000 Base Salary + Uncapped Incentive Plan (OTE: $120,000–$130,000+)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Regional Director of Business Development to drive census growth and referral development across a portfolio of skilled nursing facilities.

This is a highly visible field-based leadership role for a proven skilled nursing marketer who understands how to build and maintain referral relationships, increase admissions, and improve occupancy across multiple buildings.

The ideal candidate has a successful track record of marketing for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and is comfortable working independently while partnering closely with facility leadership and admissions teams.

Candidates must have prior business development experience specifically within Skilled Nursing Facilities. Experience limited to home health, home care, hospice, assisted living, or other healthcare settings will not be considered.

Position Summary

The Regional Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing regional sales and marketing strategies that drive admissions and strengthen referral relationships across multiple skilled nursing facilities.

This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field cultivating relationships with referral sources, educating healthcare partners about facility capabilities, and collaborating with facility leadership to improve census, payer mix, and market presence.

Key Responsibilities Business Development & Census Growth
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase admissions and occupancy across multiple skilled nursing facilities.
  • Drive census growth while improving payer mix and strengthening referral pipelines.
  • Identify new business opportunities and implement strategies to expand market share.
Referral Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, including:

  • Hospital Case Managers
  • Acute Rehabilitation Hospitals
  • Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACHs)
  • Assisted Living Facilities
  • Independent Living Communities
  • Physicians and Physician Groups
  • Managed Care Organizations
  • Dialysis Centers
  • Community Organizations and Senior Service Providers
Community Outreach
  • Represent the organization at networking events, healthcare meetings, and industry functions.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits with referral partners throughout the assigned territory.
  • Promote facility programs, clinical capabilities, and specialized services.
  • Partner with Facility Administrators, Admissions Coordinators, and Clinical Leadership to develop facility-specific growth strategies.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to leadership.
  • Assist facilities in improving referral conversion rates and customer experience.
Reporting & Performance
  • Maintain referral activity, pipeline, and business development reports.
  • Track key performance metrics including admissions, referral trends, occupancy, and market share.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding business development initiatives and results.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum 3 years of business development or marketing experience within Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs).
  • Demonstrated success growing census and developing referral relationships.
  • Existing relationships with hospital discharge planners, case managers, physicians, and post‑acute referral sources preferred.
  • Strong understanding of skilled nursing admissions, payer sources, and referral processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to manage a regional territory independently.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned region.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting multiple skilled nursing facilities.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and post‑acute reimbursement.
  • Experience using CRM systems and referral tracking tools.
