Compensation$40,000 per year.
BenefitsA full-time state position providing a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. Includes a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and eligible dependents.
Basic PurposeMonitor and supervise 35 to 45 youth (ages 17-21) in the Oklahoma Job Challenge Program (Sooner Job Challenge Program).
Essential Functions- Under administrative supervision, monitor and supervise 35 to 45 youth (ages 17 to 21) in the Oklahoma Job Challenge Program.
- Maintain accountability of assigned platoon at all times.
- Maintain discipline, security, and safety within a quasi‑military atmosphere.
- Develop a team‑oriented attitude among Associates.
- Serve as mentor/role model for those assigned cadets during the residential phase of the program.
- Conduct first‑line counseling and problem solving for assigned Associates and serve as the primary instructor in Drill and Ceremony and group living skills.
- Direct and participate in physical training.
- Provide transportation and supervision for Associates attending vocational training.
Maintain supporting documentation and evaluations for assigned Associates.
Skills and Abilities
Military background preferred but not required.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED. Degree not required.
Licenses and CertificatesValid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements- Long periods of standing and walking, indoors and outdoors, throughout the day.
- Work in conditions of both high and low temperatures.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to run a mile and walk extended distances.
- Ability to perform push‑ups, side‑straddle hops, sit‑ups, and other physical training and fitness activities.
- Ability to teach and perform physical training to Associates as outlined by the Youth Challenge Physical Fitness Program.
- Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances.
- Serve a 12‑month trial period.
- Subject to a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.
- Subject to passing pre‑employment drug & alcohol screening.
- Subject to a favorable pre‑employment physical.
- Subject to a favorable MMPI test.
- Subject to continuous federal funding.
- Eligible for a T1 child‑care check security clearance (U.S. citizens only).
- Considered essential personnel required to work during inclement weather.
- Available to work if called in due to an emergency.
- Shift work and working weekends (facility open 24 hours, 7 days a week).
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- FLSA Non‑Exempt status.
- Tobacco‑free and vape‑free facility.
