Position: Manufacturing Process Engineer - CertainTeed Roofing

WHY WE NEED YOU?

The Process Engineer will manage project initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing process in the areas of productivity, efficiency and quality to ensure that all products, processes and procedures are in compliance with established Certain Teed quality and manufacturing policies and specifications so that we can consistently meet or exceed our customer expectations.

This position provides effective leadership for all plant staff operating procedures wherever they impact process or product quality, and must implement and/or recommend necessary changes within the organization so that the plant achieves the highest possible finished product quality at the lowest possible cost. This position acts as a liaison between all the major departments: production, engineering, maintenance, logistics and quality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops, directs and maintains process improvement objectives following WCM philosophies to maximize safety, productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Develops effective teamwork and utilizes innovation to achieve department goals.
  • Provides general technical support and leadership to the plant supervisory and hourly employees.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – injuries/incidents, near misses, first aid, environmental and property/equipment damage.
  • Conduct behavior‑based audits and 5S audits as well as support plants EHS goals.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Analyze production data and apply SPC, DOE, and other statistical tools to identify and eliminate process variation.
  • Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through startup and stabilization.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and improve process capability.
  • Conduct process flow studies and system simulations to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide clear process documentation, operating instructions, and training to hourly and salaried teammates.
  • Introduce and integrate new technologies, raw materials, and methods to improve efficiency and product performance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate production trials in collaboration with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Quality Systems Manager to ensure consistent SPC deployment and process monitoring.
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams on capital projects that increase the efficiency of the production line.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and support Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM initiatives to drive cost reduction, yield improvement, and throughput gains.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4‑year degree in Engineering is required.
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001).
  • Familiarity with 5S & Continuous Improvement Methodology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
