Managing Director - Private Equity | Turnaround & Special Situations

Our client is a leading European Private Equity fund specializing in   Special Situations, Turnaround and Distressed Investments   . The firm invests in underperforming businesses, corporate carve-outs, complex financial restructurings and companies undergoing operational transformation, partnering with management teams to restore profitability and create long-term value.
To support the continued expansion of its investment platform, the fund is seeking a highly experienced   Managing Director   .

Position Overview
The Managing Director will be responsible for originating, evaluating, executing and managing complex turnaround investments across multiple sectors. The role requires a unique combination of investment expertise, restructuring capabilities and operational leadership.
The successful candidate will lead transactions from origination through exit, working closely with management teams, lenders, advisors and shareholders to drive transformational value creation.

Key Responsibilities
Source proprietary investment opportunities across turnaround, distressed, special situations and corporate carve-out transactions.
Build relationships with banks, restructuring advisors, insolvency practitioners, corporate finance boutiques, private equity firms, family offices and corporate executives.
Lead the complete investment process, including opportunity assessment, valuation, financial modelling, commercial analysis, due diligence, transaction structuring and execution.
Negotiate acquisitions, recapitalisations, debt restructurings, refinancing solutions and equity investments.
Develop investment theses focused on operational turnaround and value creation.
Present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee and participate in strategic investment decisions.
Lead portfolio company governance as Board Member or Chairman where appropriate.
Work alongside CEOs and senior management teams to implement turnaround plans and strategic transformation initiatives.
Drive operational improvements across finance, procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial performance and organizational effectiveness.
Monitor financial performance, liquidity, covenant compliance and turnaround KPIs.
Support refinancing processes, M&A add-ons, divestitures and exit strategies.
Mentor junior investment professionals and contribute to the development of the investment platform.

Candidate Profile
Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or Business Administration; MBA is considered a plus.
15+ years of experience within Private Equity, Special Situations, Turnaround, Restructuring, Investment Banking or Strategic Advisory.
Demonstrated track record in originating and executing complex investments involving distressed or underperforming businesses.
Strong experience in financial restructuring, operational turnaround, debt negotiations and corporate transformation.
Deep understanding of capital structures, leveraged finance, insolvency frameworks and restructuring processes.
Proven ability to work alongside executive management teams during periods of business transformation.
Previous Board experience within portfolio companies is highly desirable.
Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent commercial judgment.
Fluency in English is mandatory; additional European languages are considered a plus.
