About Securityplus Federal Credit Union:

Since 1938, Securityplus Federal Credit Union has proudly served our members and communities as a not-for-profit financial institution. Our mission is to empower people with financial security, providing the tools, resources, and guidance they need to reach their goals with confidence.

Guided by our CARES values of Collaboration, Agility, Respect, Excellence, and Spirit, we create meaningful connections and deliver exceptional service in everything we do. We believe in doing what is right for our members, supporting one another as a team, and making a positive impact that extends far beyond our branches.

Our vision is to be our members' first choice by providing experiences that inspire trust, confidence, and long-term relationships. When you join Securityplus, you become part of a purpose-driven team that believes in service, growth, and the power of community.

About this Role:

Are you a problem-solver who can handle tough conversations with ease? We're looking for a Collector to collect on past due loan products that may include unsecured loans, vehicle loans, home equity, and credit cards, along with negative deposit accounts, while always working within Credit Union policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.

You’ll work directly with delinquent members, helping to resolve difficult situations such as repossessions, garnishments, and foreclosures. This role requires someone who thrives under pressure, has experience in collections, and can turn a challenging conversation into an opportunity for resolution. You will play a vital role in minimizing liabilities and maximizing recoveries while maintaining a strong member-first mindset.

If you're experienced in collections, skilled at defusing tense situations, and passionate about helping improve the lives of our members, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Requirements In this full-time, non-exempt, hybrid role, you'll be responsible for:
Executing Effective Collections

Lead collection efforts with delinquent members, focusing on recovering payments through proactive communication and consistent follow-up. Post and transfer late payments and payments to negative deposit accounts, prepare and mail member correspondence, and keep member information current in the system. Balance empathy and professionalism to maintain positive member relationships throughout the collection process.

Handling High-Pressure Conversations

Manage difficult conversations with distressed members, including those facing repossession, garnishment, or foreclosure, using emotional intelligence and de-escalation techniques. Defuse tense situations and provide clear solutions that help guide members through challenging circumstances.

Locating Members and Researching Accounts

Perform skip tracing to reach members and resolve accounts, including pulling credit reports, using specialized software, and collaborating with third-party partners of the Credit Union.

Maximizing Recoveries

Leverage data-driven insights and member interactions to implement strategic solutions that reduce Credit Union liabilities and increase recoveries. Process required claims on loan products and assist members with any corrections needed on their accounts.

Delivering Impactful Results

Continuously assess members' financial situations, adapting repayment plans as needed to keep accounts current. Resolve issues efficiently and establish sustainable agreements that support long-term stability and timely payment for both members and the Credit Union.

Maintaining Records and Reporting Trends

Maintain accurate records, files, and reports on all collection activity, and inform management of trends that contribute to delinquent and charged-off loans.

Ensuring Regulatory Excellence

Rigorously adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies throughout the collections process. Stay informed of changes in regulatory standards so every step is ethical, compliant, and focused on protecting both the Credit Union and its members.

Collaborating Across Teams

Partner across departments and with third-party partners of the Credit Union…
