I am partnering with one of the world's most innovative manufacturing companies with their US Headquarters in CT. We are looking to add a Senior Accountant to the team.
Summary of dutiesThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements, own and lead the month-end closing process, review the work of the accounts receivable and accounts payable staff and identify ways to streamline accounting systems. This role will include GL reconciliations / postings, enhancing / ensuring compliance with accounting policies and sales tax management. In addition, this role will be a key contact during the audit process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial statements by reconciling accounts and posting journal entries.
- Own and lead month-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and reporting.
- Review AR and AP functions as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to company accounting policies.
- Oversee and manage sales tax filings in Avalara.
- Fixed Asset Review
- Manage Reconciliation on high transactional Accounts Receivable (Amazon/B2C and B2B).
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management review.
- Accounting degree required; auditing background or CPA preferred
- 5+ years overall accounting experience with a consumer goods company (needs to know inventory accounting)
- A/R and A/P exp: 1 year
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with reconciliations and large data sets.
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting
- Ability to work independently, have a thirst for learning, proven ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines
- Analytical problem solver who constantly strives to improves processes and procedures.
- Experience/exposure in manufacturing/CPG industry a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
