Project Leader
Our client is a reputable mid-sized commercial electrical contractor located in Milford, CT, serving commercial, industrial, and municipal clients. Their growing commercial solar department is in need of an experienced Project Leader.
The Project Leader will supervise sizeable commercial and municipal solar projects from contract signing to finalization. This position involves overseeing schedule, budget, subcontractors, procurement, utility coordination, inspections, and client communication. The ideal candidate should have managed intricate electrical or renewable energy projects and be at ease in a fast-moving construction setting with various stakeholders.
Schedule & Environment:- Monday to Friday
- 60% office work, 40% on CT job sites
- Ability to manage multiple job sites
- Oversee multiple commercial and municipal solar projects (rooftop, ground mount, carport, and portfolio-based projects) throughout Connecticut
- Lead project initiation meetings and create clear execution plans
- Create and maintain project schedules (critical path, long lead items, utility coordination timelines)
- Manage procurement of major equipment such as modules, inverters, switch gear, transformers, and balance of system materials
- Coordinate with utilities for interconnection, witness testing, and approvals
- Monitor project budgets and costs to ensure margin goals are met
- Review and supervise subcontracts and vendor agreements
- Submit and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams to ensure correct execution of design intent
- Oversee permitting and inspection processes
- Manage project billing milestones and assist with O&M transition at project end
- Maintain orderly project documentation and reporting
- Identify and address risks early in the project lifecycle
- 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction, electrical construction, or utility-scale solar
- Thorough understanding of NEC and electrical construction practices
- Experience with managing projects exceeding 500 kW preferred
- Experience with municipal contracts and public bid work preferred
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics
- Strong budgeting and cost control skills
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Competitive base salary in the $110-130k range, negotiable based on experience
