Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing technical leadership and operational support for external manufacturing partners while serving as the primary liaison between contract manufacturers and internal functional teams. The role leads technology transfer, process development, scale-up, validation, process optimization, and commercialization activities to ensure successful execution of new product launches, business continuity initiatives, regulatory projects, cost improvement opportunities, and manufacturing performance objectives.
Essential Functions
- Interacts with Technical Services, R&D, Marketing and external manufacturers to ensure new product development meets established schedules and budgets.
- Serve as the technical lead for external manufacturing partners and provide engineering support for commercialization, process development, process optimization, and manufacturing operations.
- Lead technology activity review based on TPM plans from product development through pilot scale and commercial manufacturing at external sites.
- Evaluate manufacturing readiness and technical feasibility of new products, product improvements, and business continuity projects.
- Review TPM design of experiments being executed at laboratory, pilot plant, and production-scale experiments to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Analyze formula, laboratory, pilot plant, and production data to assess process robustness, capability, and risk.
- Monitor external manufacturing performance related to quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and schedule attainment.
- Working with appropriate internal functions and the manufacturer, develops and manages continuous improvement programs.
- Responsible for determining and managing the capital plan for external manufacturing and the successful implementation of capital projects
- Develop and implement continuous improvement programs focused on safety, quality, productivity, yield, and cost reduction.
- Maintain effective relationships with external manufacturing partners and ensure compliance with established supply agreements.
- Support business continuity planning and capacity management initiatives to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, process development, technical operations, tech transfer, or external manufacturing.
- Experience with technology transfer, scale-up, validation, and commercialization.
- Strong understanding of cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Proven leadership, strategic abilities, self‑motivated and needs little supervision.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with various functional groups within the organization and external agencies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in personal care, OTC, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement experience.
