Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgery Center (COSC) is seeking an experienced Full Time Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center team of professionals.

About Us

COSC was formed in 2018 and opened for first cases in October 2019. It represents a unique venture, bringing together, as co-owners, one of the largest orthopedic groups in Connecticut, other long-established community providers, a major hospital system, and the leading ASC management company in the state.

COSC performs minimally invasive surgical procedures for patients living in the town of Milford, as well as neighboring towns.

Position Description

The PACU Registered nurse position is responsible for direct nursing care of patients in the pre-operative, post anesthesia care unit and will rotate into the pain management procedure room. The PACU Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all areas of perioperative nursing, post anesthesia recovery, pain, and patient teaching.

Requirements
  • PACU/Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a Pre-op/PACU nurse.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required. PALS within 3 months of hire.
  • A knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center.
