Position: Lead Clinical Nurse - Surgical PCU (Nights)

Lead Clinical Nurse (RN)

Permanent Night Shifts with a Weekend Rotation. This role is part of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Surgical Progressive Care Unit, a 32‑bed general surgical unit offering Floor, Telemetry, and Intermediate Medical Care (IMC) levels. The unit supports IMC patient arrhythmia management, BiPAP/CPAP, bedside bronchoscopy, thoracic surgery (lung resections, pneumonectomy, esophagectomy), trauma, urology (RRP, TURP), and other general surgery patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff, acting as the primary clinical leader in the absence of the Assistant Nurse Manager or Nurse Manager.
  • Oversee the clinical team during care delivery and unit operations.
  • Support day‑to‑day operations, including resource utilization and performance management of staff.
  • Assist in development and implementation of unit procedures and conflict‑resolution strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient care and unit efficiency.
Qualifications
  • BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license.
  • BLS CPR certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of intermediate‑care or higher‑acuity RN work experience.
  • Strong leadership, conflict‑resolution, resource‑management, and performance‑management skills.
