Position Summary

Provides exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. Cultivates a patient‑centric environment focusing on the whole individual, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family, and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for continuity of care within scope of practice and specialty‑specific standards to address and resolve problems.

A call Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is part of a core team of dedicated CRNAs who provide timely anesthetic and emergency care 24/7 in a full‑time role. The schedule is flexible, non‑patterned, with in‑house call responsibilities including off‑shifts, weekends and holidays. The position requires availability for off‑shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency calls, and a 90‑day notice when transitioning or resigning from the call team.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care – Implement accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.
  • Professional Skills – Understand physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations; continuously monitor vital signs, capnography, pulse oximetry; adhere to ASA guidelines.
  • Information Management – Ensure appropriate documentation and protect patient information from unauthorized access.
  • Quality Management – Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
  • Professional Development – Engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.
  • Qualifications Education

    Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist:
    Completion of a Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program;
    Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs. Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, APRN licensure in Connecticut.

    Experience

    Preferred clinical experience as a CRNA within the given specialty/service line, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice as an APRN, PA, CRNA or CNM via reference letters obtained during appointment is required.

    Licensure

    A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with AANA certification, State of CT RN and APRN license, ACLS and DEA Registration, and State of CT controlled substance registration.
