Position Overview
Clarke is seeking a highly experienced Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This position is being added due to continued company growth and recent acquisitions in Philadelphia and Florida, creating an increased need for strong multi-entity and intercompany accounting support.
A key component of this role will be working closely with the accounting teams at the family-owned companies Clarke has recently acquired, helping to ensure accurate intercompany accounting, reconciling balances between entities, and support the integration of accounting processes and financial information. This individual will serve as an important resource across the organization, partnering with both internal and acquired-company accounting teams to resolve discrepancies, strengthen processes, and maintain accurate financial records
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day general ledger accounting activities across multiple entities
- Prepare and post complex journal entries and maintain accurate supporting documentation
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and ensure transactions are properly recorded between entities
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts
- Assist with the integration and accounting needs associated with newly acquired entities
- Analyze general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly classified
- Assist with financial reporting and provide accounting information to leadership as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Support ERP initiatives and help ensure accurate integration of accounting processes within Microsoft Dynamics BC
- Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, Staff Accountant, and AP/AR team on accounting-related matters
- Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as the company continues to grow
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Qualified candidates will have either (a) 2+ years of public accounting experience or (b) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a private industry or corporate accounting setting.
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
- Demonstrated experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations
- Strong understanding of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Hands-on experience with fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and other core accounting functions
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and manipulate financial data
- Microsoft Dynamics BC experience strongly preferred
- EPass accounting software experience a plus
- Experience with ERP implementations, integrations, or system transitions is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small accounting team
- Process-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement
