As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the orthodontic team to deliver excellent patient care in a welcoming and professional environment. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced practice.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and treatment procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained.
- Take and process digital radiographs, photographs, impressions, and scans as permitted by state regulations.
- Place and remove orthodontic appliances, archwires, ligatures, and other materials as directed by the orthodontist.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering clinical supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and office safety protocols.
- Provide outstanding customer service and help create a positive patient experience.
- Support office operations and collaborate with team members to achieve practice goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Dental Assistant certification/licensure as required by state regulations.
- Current radiology certification if required by state regulations.
- Minimum of 1 year of dental assisting experience preferred.
- Orthodontic assisting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and terminology.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and customer service.
- Experience with digital scanners and orthodontic software.
- Experience assisting with braces, clear aligners, and other orthodontic appliances.
- CPR certification.
