Job DescriptionPosition: English Learner (EL) Teacher – Long-Term Substitute (LTS)

Qualifications- Massachusetts certification as a teacher in ESL (PreK‑6), preferred
- MA Department of Education Teacher License – Elementary Education or English as a Second Language, preferred
- Master’s degree in English as a Second Language (ESL) or Applied Linguistics, preferred
- ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Test Administrator:
Online and Kindergarten, preferred - Working Knowledge of Massachusetts’ Curriculum Frameworks
- Ability to differentiate instruction across all WIDA English proficiency levels
- Knowledge of and experience with DESE ESL MCUs and Collaboration Tool
- Knowledge of second language learning and sheltering content, and familiarity with WIDA, Massachusetts standards‑based curriculum, standard and alternative methods of assessment.
- Experience with a variety of ELD instruction: newcomers, EL‑SWD, and ESL/SEI core‑content co‑teaching.
- Proficiency in another language, preferably Spanish or Portuguese, preferred
- Teach explicit English Language Development (ELD) to small groups of ELs in push‑in and/or co‑teaching Sheltered English Immersion classroom settings
- Administer annual ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 and progress monitoring assessments aligned to WIDA Key Uses.
- Develop and implement ESL content‑integrated curriculum and update the existing ELD curriculum maps
- Develop, implement, and consistently monitor goals and objectives for students in accordance with the English learner frameworks and keep parents informed about student progress in language acquisition
- Provide a positive structured learning environment, addressing grade and English proficiency appropriate ELD WIDA standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents of students in order to assist in the development of language acquisition and academic advancement in the home.
