Position Overview:
In this district-wide leadership role, the Curriculum Supervisor of Mathematics drives the development,
implementation, and continuous improvement of a high-quality, coherent, and equitable mathematics
program aligned with the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks and the Standards for
Mathematical Practice. The Supervisor leads curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical and
horizontal alignment across all grade levels, and ensures that curriculum, instruction, and assessment
practices are culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners
and students with disabilities.
The Supervisor analyzes district, school, and classroom-level data to identify trends and guide
instructional decision-making, and collaborates closely with district and school administrators,
curriculum leaders, and teachers to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning at every level. This
position carries direct supervisory responsibility for mathematics educators, including observation,
coaching, and evaluation in accordance with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation regulations. The
Supervisor also plays a central role in building professional capacity across the district by designing
and facilitating ongoing, job-embedded professional learning, managing departmental budgets and
grants, and supporting the recruitment and onboarding of mathematics educators.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts teaching certification in Mathematics, required
- Massachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or equivalent, required
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrator Endorsement, required
- Master's Degree or higher in Curriculum Leadership, Mathematics Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful mathematics teaching experience
- Demonstrated experience as an instructional coach, curriculum leader, or mathematics specialist
- Provide leadership to create and sustain a district culture of high expectations for mathematics teaching and learning at all levels
- Lead and coordinate district-wide curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levels, with a focus on a comprehensive and coherent mathematics program
- Ensure mathematics curriculum is standards‑aligned, culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilities
- Collaborate with district and building administrators, Curriculum Team Leaders, and teachers on matters of mathematics curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Serve as the district's primary instructional coach for mathematics, providing ongoing, content‑specific coaching at all levels
- Support building principals in the supervision and evaluation of mathematics educators, serving as a content expert and resource
- Model effective instructional strategies and co‑teach or demonstrate lessons as needed to support teacher development
- Design, plan, and facilitate ongoing, job‑embedded professional learning opportunities for mathematics educators across all levels
- Lead district‑wide Mathematics Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and curriculum committees focused on continuous improvement
- Support new teacher induction, mentoring, and professional growth in mathematics
- Analyze district, school, and classroom‑level assessment data to identify trends, monitor progress, and guide instructional decision‑making
- Support alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and grading practices across all levels
