Qualifications:

• Massachusetts Department of Education Teacher License Certified Grades 9-12 in Portuguese
• Expertise with the current Massachusetts Curriculum frameworks for world language;
• Effective teaching skills, an enthusiasm for learning and a desire to maximize the learning potential for all students enrolled in world language;
• The ability to plan and successfully implement a variety of strategies to engage a population of diverse learners including the use of research-based instructional strategies, technology, and interactive learning,
• Ability to effectively collaborate with other members of the department and across disciplines;
• Successfully employ classroom management strategies; A positive person, willing to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture;
• A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community;

Responsibilities:

• Ability to use formative and summative assessment consistently to assess student progress and adapt instruction appropriately based on individual need;
• Assess strengths and needs of students and communicate assessment results with Curriculum Team Leader, teachers, guidance counselors, parents and administration;
• Work collaboratively with Administration, Curriculum Team Leader, World Language, Special Education, and English Learner departments;
• Strong knowledge of differentiating instruction and personalized learning;
• Consistently use 21st Century technology skills to support all facets of instruction and student success;
• Current with research and instructional strategies for high school teaching and learning;
• High energy, motivated, organized, self-directed individuals preferred;
• Consistently embed self in school culture to support the academic achievement and growth of all students;
• Responsible for all aspects of the classroom
