American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology night shift position requiring active MA RN license and telemetry interpretation skills.
Details- Work on a Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a hospital setting
- Care for a general med surg patient population as well as oncology patients receiving active treatment and palliative care
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend and every other holiday requirement
- May float to other inpatient units as needed
- Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations available
- Must be able to work all 7 days of the week
- Uses Epic EMR, prior experience highly preferred
- Active MA RN license required, must be in hand to be considered
- Minimum of 3 years of RN experience required
- Med Surg/Tele experience required
- Oncology experience preferred
- Current BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, corticosteroids, and Neupogen preferred
- Skilled in wound care, colostomy/ileostomy management, foley catheter insertion/management, and neutropenic precautions preferred
- Experience with pain management including IV push narcotic agents and transdermal patches preferred
- Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage treatment side effects preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration, one of which must be from a Nurse Manager or higher
- No prior disciplinary actions on nursing license permitted
- Provide direct patient care coordination for oncology and med surg patients including IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care
- Must pass a Pass/Fail Tele test during orientation with an 80% passing score and only one attempt allowed; failure to pass will result in cancellation from the assignment
- Must also complete a Pass/Fail Medication exam during orientation
- Pre-start and orientation modules required, with additional annual modules
- Isolation precautions and PPE protocols followed for patient safety
- Local candidates accepted within a 200-mile radius at the same bill rate
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
- Up to 14 days of RTO can be submitted for review, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
