Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, the Instructional Assistant assists administrators in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.

• Complete clerical work as directed including producing and reproducing materials for classroom instruction.
• Assist children with their personal needs, i.e. helping with boots, coats, etc.
• Supervise playgrounds, lunchroom, loading and unloading of school buses, corridors, and restrooms as assigned.
• Attend meetings when requested to do so.
• Assist classroom teacher with pupil assignments, i.e. drill work, oral reading, listening to children read, and written assignments.
• Assist classroom teacher with student management responsibilities.
• Assume supervision of the classroom when assigned by administration.
• Assume responsibility for the discipline of the students during all the assigned tasks.
• Participate in training as required by administration.
• Effectively provide academic support to students individually or in small groups.
• Provide regular and consistent support to the school.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.

• High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts or its equivalent, preferred.
• Three years’ transferable experience is preferred.
