General Function: Works to establish relationships and referrals that build a client base of sales.
Meets with customers to establish good working relationships and assess customer product needs. Designs wall elevations of cabinetry and architectural millwork, applying architectural principles in conjunction with Innerwood’s standard designs (i.e. Kitchens, Baths, Laundry, Closets, Storage areas, Audio Visual Cabinets, Bars, Entertainment areas, all rooms of a house) Stays abreast of viable design trends to incorporate and refresh Innerwood standard designs.
Accountable to customer and all Innerwood departments in ensuring design detail through finish. Committed to a solution-oriented process in design, fabrication, and installation of projects. Efficiently meets commitments and deadlines through good communication skills and multi-tasking organizational skills. Works as a member of the design team to achieve Innerwood sales goals.
- Develops and signs new builders, architects, designers, and customer bases.
- Designs finished interior cabinetry and decorative woodwork using available software systems to include AutoCAD, 20/20, Cabinet Vision, CCE and Microsoft Excel.
- Understands, tracks & sells Marsh, Dutch, Nature Kast & Medallion semi-custom products.
- Based upon project scope of work, collaboratively engages with internal and external stakeholders to develop an accurate bid, tracks projects through engineering, fabrication, finishing and installation to ensure customer satisfaction and company profitability.
- Drafts work orders and ensures project is detailed for shop fabrication, through complete understanding of construction methods and limitations.
- Gains cooperation from customer, shop, and installation team to meet customer expectations. Can sell design engineered (standard) products to customers as an option to customization.
- Solves problems that may interfere with promised deliverables. Understands Design Standards and utilizes them for maximization of time. Maintains database of standard design files.
- Able to create a design that meets and satisfies customer’s needs with consideration of Innerwood product line, styles, and construction standards. Uses photos, applicable software, and samples of products to convey finished work to customer.
- Meets and exceeds customer expectations of finished product.
- Demonstrates continuous improvement through work habits and process development. Assists in training new employees to department or company.
- Documents methods and processes for future repeatability.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This job description outlines the primary responsibilities and qualifications. Successful candidates will possess a combination of education, sales expertise, and design knowledge.
- A 4-college year degree in architecture, design, construction management or an equivalent level of sales/design experience.
- Must exhibit design knowledge of finished carpentry/cabinetry, equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Computerized design and 3-5 years of residential design experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience with recent versions of AutoCAD.
- Have a deep-seated passion for design and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of field measuring required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and keep them apprised of developments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, 20/20, and AutoCAD.
Working Conditions: Majority of work is performed in an office/production setting utilizing a computer. Requires lifting of samples of wood product less than 10 lbs. Field and on-site visits required. In office discussions with customers, via phone and in person, while documenting details of discussion
